Two new limited-edition Blue Universe Collection models featuring Duratect DLC Blue
CITIZEN Watch is launching two new models from the CITIZEN ATTESA collection equipped with the latest technologies. These two limited-edition models mark the second release from the Blue Universe Collection and feature Duratect DLC Blue*1 on the bezel and the center link of the bracelet.

Both new models feature DLC Blue, a surface hardening technology that offers all of the characteristics of Duratect DLC in a deep blue color. Much like rainbows that appear on the surface of soap bubbles, this coating utilizes the principle of thin-film interference to precisely control the reflection and refraction of light to create a deep blue color. With its appealing glossy dark blue hue, Duratect DLC is resistant to scratches and smooth to the touch.
Utilizing advanced titanium processing technologies, the brushed finished on the upper surface of the octagonal bezel contrasts beautifully with the sleek lines of the case. The integrated case and bracelet offers an appealing, streamlined look accented by the deep blue color of DLC Blue. DLC Blue is also used on the bezel and the center link of the bracelet, and the contrast between the grey-black of the case and DLC Blue creates a sophisticated, understated look. The two limited-edition models both feature a jet-black dial with glittering accents inspired by stars sparkling in the silence of space. The clean and simple design of the gleaming silver-colored indices and hands also provides superior legibility.

※1 Duratect is CITIZEN’s proprietary surface hardening technology that enhances the surface hardness of metals such as stainless steel and titanium, protecting watch bodies from scratches and damage. This technology offers excellent abrasion quality and maintains the luster of metals for long periods of time.
Duratect DLC achieves Vickers hardness of 1,000-1,400 by creating an amorphous carbon hard film—mainly composed of carbon and hydrogen—on the surface of the material. Vickers hardness for stainless steel is approx. 200HV.
Duratect DLC Blue uses CITIZEN’s advanced DLC film-forming technology to provide all of the features of regular Duratect DLC, including scratch resistance and a beautifully smooth surface, in an appealing deep blue color. It provides the same level of Vickers hardness as regular DLC (1,000 - 1,400HV).

※6 Light-level Indicator detects and displays the intensity of light striking the dial (which generates the electricity to run the watch) in seven levels, allowing wearers to easily gauge the charge level in any given situation.

Due to the difficulty in polishing titanium to a mirror finish, most titanium watches at the time had a rough, matte finish and were designed for the outdoors. However, that changed thanks to a new processing technology developed by CITIZEN that gave the metal a soft metallic glow, resulting in an elegant titanium business watch.

Titanium is heat treated at high temperatures and then cooled, creating a non-uniform structure. This results in crystal-like formations on the surface of the metal, producing unique patterns just like unprocessed titanium ore found in nature. This unique material is used on the bezel and the middle links of the bracelet.
